Bharti Infratel, one of the largest telecom tower infrastructure providers in India jointly with Shishu Sarothi, a non-profit organization, felicitated 83 (Eighty Three) beneficiaries under the ‘Bharti Infratel Scholarship Program’ on 4th August, 2017.
Mr. Pravesh Sharma, Circle Operations Head, Bharti Infratel Guwahati and Ms. Sakina Baker, CSR Head, Bharti Infratel, Mr. Karma Pljor, Consulting Editor, CNN News 18 attended the event along with other officials held at NEDFi House, Ganeshguri (Guwahati). Other representatives who were part of the event included partner NGOs of the region which included – Spastic Society of Manipur,Zoram Entu Pawl-Mizoram,Cherry Blossoms-Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh Parents Association of the Disabled and Ferrando Institute for Hearing Impaired, Meghalaya.
The Scholarship program is a one-of-its-kind scholarship program for the students with disabilities in the North East. The program was started in 2016 with an objective to provide financial support and aid to the students with disabilities for pursuing professional or technical education, which in turn will help them get employment ready, and thus self-reliant. The Scholarship program is designed to benefit students across all eight states of the Northeast viz: Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura and Meghalaya.
As part of the ‘Bharti Infratel Scholarship Program’ 117 students from various disciplines were selected in the first year by an independent panel and given scholarships. Students receiving scholarship under the program came largely from challenging socio-economic background.
