Richa Adhikary is a cheerful, witty young woman who lights up our Vocational Training unit with her smile and her enthusiasm. Her diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) does not stop her from being herself and becoming a talented artist in her own right. She loves to dance and sing, plays the keyboard, and is on stage during all the cultural programs at Shishu Sarothi.
Richa has been coming along with her mother Gayatri Adhikary has been associated with our Vocational Unit since 2005, when she came as a volunteer, and was eventually appointed as an instructor & trainer in acknowledgment of her talent and passion in craft work. Over the years Richa too has become a skilled and talented young lady and works ever so efficiently with the papercraft and screen-printing activities that we do.
Richa loves meeting people and chatting with them and never fails to win them over with her charm and positive attitude. She also gets a lot of love and affection from others with her sense of humor, charm, and big smiles. She mixes with her peers during class and readily helps in clearing up afterward and keeping the room and materials neat and tidy.
She helps her mother at home in organizing all the art and craft materials in their house and keeps herself busy with one thing or the other, whether it is music or craft work.
Having Richa around is fun and motivating for all of us at the Vocational Unit of Shishu Sarothi
