Hurray for Arab Sha ……..

Hurray! We are thrilled to share that Arab Sha is standing independently and is taking a couple of steps on his own too. Arab came to our Early Intervention service at the Paediatrics OPD in AMCH, Dibrugarh, in September 2022, with a complicated birth history of delayed birth cry, asphyxia and NICU admission. His parents were anxious about the delay in development of his motor skills and difficulty in standing by himself without support at 2 years and 10 months of age and he was crawling to reach for whatever he wanted.

Initially, he was finding it difficult to maintain his balance while standing without support, although he was able to hold objects with his hand and could eat finger foods (biscuits/chips) on his own. So we designed a management plan to develop his trunk control and core muscle strength to help him maintain static balance while standing.

With regular therapy sessions at our unit over the last 4-5 months, followed up actively by his parents at home, we are delighted to see that Arab has shown remarkable improvement and is now able to stand for short spells and can squat to pick up his toys from the floor. He also tries to walk independently for 1 or 2 steps.
